Ivan Khutorskoy (February 17, 1983 – November 16, 2009) was a Russian anti-fascist, active member of the Red and Anarchist Skinheads (R.A.S.H.) community, also known by the nickname Vanya Kostolom.
Khutorskoy’s first conflicts with the far right groups occurred in his childhood at ska-punk concerts (Khutorskoy was fascinated by the punk rock subculture). Since 2004, Ivan Khutorskoy has been actively involved in the R.A.S.H. organization and has worked at the Moscow city social center for youth, “Children of the Streets” (“Deti Ulits”). Khutorskoy was involved in organizing security for various events (concerts, rallies, sports competitions) and was himself an athlete — a candidate for master of sports in arm wrestling.
According to the testimony of Nikita Tikhonov, one of the killers of Markelova and Baburova, in 2005 Tikhonov et al. wounded Khutorskoy causing wounds to the neck, after which the latter spent several months in the hospital, and then, after surviving three attacks, carried brass knuckles with him and used them when necessary. In October 2009, Ivan held a mixed martial arts tournament among anti-fascists.
Ivan Khutorskoy was shot dead in his own apartment building on November 16, 2009. Responsibility for the murder was claimed by the right-wing extremist group BORN, which had previously carried out the murders of Markelov and Baburova.
In memory of Ivan, a movie has been produced: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XlRKhTd7GZc
There was also a yearly competition in martial arts among antifascists called “Never surrender”
