Timur Kacharava (August 21, 1985 – November 13, 2005) was an antifascist from Russia and one of the organizers of “Food Not Bombs” in Saint Petersburg. He was also a musician(bands Distress and Sandinista!) and a photographer. Timur was pacifist and vegan.
While studying at the faculty of philosophy, Kacharava was an active member of the antifascist community in Saint Petersburg, repeatedly participating in anti-fascist demonstrations and organizing “Food Not Bombs”. For all this, he received threats from neo-Nazi groups in the city.
On the evening of November 13, 2005, in the center of St. Petersburg, Timur Kacharava and his friend Maxim Zgibay were attacked with a knife by several neo-Nazis. Timur Kacharava died from multiple stab wounds to the neck. On January 20, 2009, a march began at the site of Kacharava’s murder in memory of Markelov and Baburova, who had been killed the day before in Moscow.
